Iniesta Played His 100th Spain Match in This Black Away Shirt

On 23 June 2014, Andrés Iniesta became the ninth player to reach 100 appearances for Spain. He achieved the milestone against Australia at the World Cup in Brazil, four years after scoring the winning goal against the Netherlands in the 2010 final. At 30 years old, he joined a group that included Iker Casillas, Xavi, Sergio Ramos and Raúl.

The circumstances weren't what Iniesta had hoped for. Spain had arrived in Brazil as defending champions but were already eliminated after losing 5-1 to the Netherlands and 2-0 to Chile. Against Australia, Iniesta helped Spain finish with a win. He played a part in David Villa's opening goal and then set up Fernando Torres for the second. Juan Mata added a third to complete the 3-0 result.

The match also marked the end of an important period for Spain. David Villa scored his 59th international goal, while Xavi, Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres were playing their final World Cup tournament. Iniesta would continue representing Spain until 2018, eventually finishing with 131 international appearances. This black-and-yellow Adidas shirt is directly connected to his 100th appearance and one of the final matches of Spain's World Cup-winning generation.
