The Sevilla Shirt With 11 Stripes for 11 Players

The most interesting thing about this shirt is hidden in its design.

New Balance covered Sevilla’s black-and-grey 2015/16 third shirt with 11 horizontal bands, one for every player in a starting XI. The yellow sections break up the dark design, while Coke was chosen to model the kit when Sevilla presented it in front of more than 2,000 supporters at the Sánchez-Pizjuán.

There was another change on the chest. The official Sevilla crest returned after the previous Warrior-era shirts had used a different club symbol, something many supporters had wanted changed.

And the season attached to it became historic. Sevilla entered the Europa League after dropping out of the Champions League and somehow won the competition again. In Basel, they came from 1–0 down to beat Liverpool 3–1, with Kevin Gameiro equalising immediately after half-time before Coke scored twice.

It was Sevilla’s third straight Europa League title, something no club had ever managed before.

The final itself used a special white shirt, not this third kit, but this black design belongs to the exact season Sevilla turned their Europa League obsession into an outright record.
