In 2010, Arsenal legend Tony Adams made one of football’s most unexpected career moves: he signed a three-year deal to manage Qabala in Azerbaijan.

Adams wanted to build more than a first team. The club began improving its academy and training facilities as part of a much bigger project to put Qabala on the football map.

He also persuaded Jamaican international Deon Burton to leave English football and join him. Burton had played at the 1998 World Cup and finished this season as Qabala’s leading scorer with nine goals.

So this is not just a rare shirt from Azerbaijan. It comes from the season an Arsenal icon arrived with huge plans and brought a World Cup striker with him, exactly the kind of random football story that makes someone look twice.
