Perth Glory 2016/17 20th Anniversary Heritage Shirt (Small)

Perth Glory’s anniversary shirt was designed to take supporters back to the club’s beginning.

When Glory entered Australian national football in 1996, their original shirt used purple, orange and a large rising-sun graphic. Twenty years later, Macron brought that idea back for the 2016/17 season, keeping the most recognisable part of the original while rebuilding it as a modern match shirt. 

The club did not leave it as a retail-only tribute. Perth wore the heritage design in its first home match of the season against Central Coast Mariners on 8 October 2016. Members’ names were also placed on a special stadium banner, while players from the original 1996 side were invited back as part of the anniversary celebrations. 

The match gave the shirt a proper moment of its own. Adam Taggart scored twice as Perth opened a two-goal lead, although Central Coast eventually recovered to draw.

That makes it much more interesting than a normal seasonal release. It recreates the shirt that introduced Perth Glory in 1996, carries the “Est. 1996” detail on the back and belongs to a confirmed one-off heritage occasion. For a Glory collector, it is basically two eras of the club stitched into one shirt.
