The Last Reebok Season Before City Changed Forever

Manchester City’s 2006/07 season now feels like football from another world.

Reebok was still making the club’s kit, Thomas Cook was still the sponsor and City were finishing 14th in the Premier League rather than competing for the title. At home, they scored only ten league goals all season, one of the lowest home totals in English top-flight history.

This training fleece comes from the final year of City’s Reebok partnership. The following season brought Le Coq Sportif, Sven-Göran Eriksson and new ownership. One year after that, the Abu Dhabi takeover completely changed what Manchester City could become.

That is what makes this piece interesting now. It comes from the last chapter before modern Manchester City began: before the record signings, Premier League titles and global image, when the club’s official training gear still carried Reebok and Thomas Cook.
