THE STORY BEHIND THE SHIRT

The Training Top from Salah’s First Liverpool Season

This long-sleeve New Balance top was part of Liverpool’s official 2017–18 training collection. Its blue-grey finish, yellow anniversary crest and BetVictor sponsor separate it from the red-and-white pre-match shirt used that season. 

The campaign was Mohamed Salah’s first at Anfield. Alongside Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino, he helped turn Liverpool into one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking teams.

Liverpool reached the Champions League final after memorable knockout victories over Manchester City and Roma. They eventually lost to Real Madrid in Kyiv, but the run showed how quickly Jürgen Klopp’s side was developing.

The 2017–18 collection also celebrated Liverpool’s 125th anniversary, which explains the special crest visible on the chest. 

For Liverpool supporters, this top brings back the season when everything started to click. It is not the shirt Salah scored in, but it comes from the training ground where that front three was builtand where the team that would soon win Europe began taking shape.
