Inter equalised in stoppage time and Yamal had several chances to score, but goalkeeper Yann Sommer kept stopping him. Lamine Yamal Almost Sent Barcelona to the Champions League Final at 17

On 6 May 2025, Barcelona faced Inter Milan in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final. The first match had ended 3-3, so everything was still open. At just 17 years old, Lamine Yamal was already one of Barcelona's most important players and Inter knew they had to find a way to stop him.

Inter went 2-0 ahead, but Barcelona fought back through goals from Eric García and Dani Olmo. In the 87th minute, Yamal came close to putting Barça ahead, but Yann Sommer made an excellent save. A minute later, Raphinha scored to make it 3-2. Barcelona were heading to the final until Francesco Acerbi equalised in stoppage time.

The match went to extra time, where Davide Frattesi scored to give Inter a 4-3 lead. Yamal kept trying to bring Barcelona back, creating more chances and forcing Sommer into further saves, but Inter held on. Barcelona were eliminated 7-6 on aggregate and Yamal had come incredibly close to reaching his first Champions League final. At only 17, he had already shown he could trouble some of Europe's best defenders on one of football's biggest stages.
