Ronaldo Scored 47 Goals in His Only Season at Barcelona

Ronaldo arrived at Barcelona in 1996 at just 19 and needed only one season to become one of the defining players of the era. He finished 1996/97 with 47 goals in 51 matches, including 34 league goals in 37 games, enough to win the Pichichi.

That year also produced one of his most replayed goals ever: the run against Compostela, where he collected the ball near midfield, powered through challenge after challenge and scored after carrying it almost the length of the pitch. That goal was one of the moments that defined his single season at the club.

This shirt is especially fun because it was not the normal match jersey. Kappa produced this official special edition with Ronaldo’s image worked into the front and No. 9 sublimated into the back, mimicking the wild graphic “bootleg” shirts that were everywhere in the 1990s.
