Bayern Munich 1999/01 Home (Medium)

This Bayern shirt survived two seasons and both Bundesliga titles attached to it were won in almost unbelievable circumstances.

In 1999/00, Bayer Leverkusen reached the final day three points clear of Bayern and needed only a draw against already-relegated Unterhaching. Instead, Leverkusen lost 2-0, including an own goal, while Bayern won their match and stole the championship on goal difference. They then beat Werder Bremen 3-0 in the DFB-Pokal final to complete the double. 

A year later, things got even stranger. On the final day of 2000/01, Schalke won 5-3 and watched Hamburg take a 1-0 lead over Bayern in the 90th minute. Schalke began celebrating their first Bundesliga title.

For exactly 4 minutes and 38 seconds, they were champions. Then Bayern were awarded an indirect free-kick inside the Hamburg box. Stefan Effenberg touched the ball to defender Patrik Andersson, who smashed in the equaliser in stoppage time. It was Andersson’s first and only Bundesliga goal for Bayern and it won them the title. 

Four days later came another huge moment. Wearing the same home design in its Champions League configuration, Bayern faced Valencia in Milan and won the final 5-4 on penalties, with Oliver Kahn saving three spot-kicks. It ended a 25-year wait for another European Cup. 

So this design did not just last two seasons. It lived through two absurd Bundesliga finales and ended its run with Bayern back on top of Europe.
