Real Madrid 2020/21 Away Kitroom Issued, Size 4 (Fits Small)

In July 2020, Adidas unveiled Real Madrid's new away shirt, bringing back the pink colour that had previously appeared in the club's 2014/15 away kit. The design was inspired by Madrid at night, particularly the Plaza de Cibeles, where Real Madrid supporters traditionally celebrate major trophies.

The shirt made its competitive debut on 7 August 2020 against Manchester City in the Champions League Round of 16. Although the match belonged to the delayed 2019/20 season, Madrid had already introduced their new kit for the following campaign. They lost 2-1 and were eliminated from the competition.

Things didn't improve when the 2020/21 season began. Real Madrid wore the pink shirt against Cádiz on 17 October, choosing it for a home match to support breast cancer awareness. They suffered a surprising 1-0 defeat.

Their next appearance in pink came away against Valencia on 8 November, when Carlos Soler scored three penalties in a 4-1 victory over Madrid. After those two defeats, the pink shirt was barely seen again. In fact, Real Madrid did not wear it in another competitive match that season, preferring their traditional white home shirt or black alternatives.

Madrid eventually finished second in La Liga and reached the Champions League semi-finals under Zinedine Zidane, but the pink away shirt remained a small and rather unusual part of the campaign.

For collectors, that is what makes this 2020/21 shirt interesting: a distinctive Adidas design that was officially released, yet appeared in only two competitive matches during its intended season.
