Raúl Finished One Season as Top Scorer in Both La Liga and the Champions League

Adidas introduced this light-blue third shirt in 1999/00 and kept it for a second campaign, meaning it spans two very different Raúl seasons. The first ended with Real Madrid winning the Champions League; the second became one of the best individual scoring campaigns of Raúl’s career.

In 2000/01, Raúl scored 24 league goals, winning the Pichichi as Real Madrid finished seven points clear at the top. When the title was clinched against Alavés on 26 May 2001, Raúl scored twice in a 5-0 win before celebrating Madrid’s 28th Spanish championship.

He was doing the same thing in Europe. UEFA records Raúl as the 2000/01 Champions League top scorer with seven goals, making him the leading scorer in Spain and Europe’s biggest club competition in the same season.
