Liverpool 2012/13 Away - Suarez 7 (Small)

When Warrior entered football with Liverpool in 2012, it could have gone futuristic. Instead, its first away shirt looked back more than a century.

The inspiration came from Liverpool’s 1900-1906 away kit and the maritime world surrounding the club at the time. The yoke element was revived as a tribute to the sailors and workers of the Mersey docks, tying the shirt directly to the industry that helped shape Liverpool as a city. Warrior described the idea as drawing parallels with the uniforms worn by Liverpool dockyard workers around the turn of the 20th century. 

That history landed in the middle of Luis Suárez’s best Liverpool season to that point. By January 2013 he was already deep in the Golden Boot race and at the Emirates he struck after just five minutes while wearing this away design. The goal took him to 17 in the Premier League and 22 in all competitions at that stage of the season. 

Liverpool eventually drew 2-2 after surrendering a two-goal lead, but Suárez kept scoring all year and finished the campaign with 30 goals in all competitions. 

So this Suárez #7 shirt connects two very different Liverpool eras: a design pulled from the city’s dockside past, worn more than a century later by one of the most chaotic and prolific forwards Anfield had seen in years.
