The Final World Cup of Uruguay’s Golden Generation

This Uruguay 2022 home shirt represents the final World Cup chapter of one of the country’s greatest generations.

Luis Suárez, Edinson Cavani and captain Diego Godín all wore this design in Qatar. Together, they had helped Uruguay win the 2011 Copa América and reach the 2010 World Cup semi-finals. Qatar 2022 became the last World Cup for all three.

The shirt was worn throughout Uruguay’s tournament, including the emotional 2–0 victory over Ghana. Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored both goals, but Uruguay were eliminated after South Korea’s late winner against Portugal.

Puma kept the design close to Uruguay’s traditional identity, using the famous sky-blue colour with a white collar and gold details. Above the crest sit four stars, representing the country’s Olympic football titles in 1924 and 1928 and its World Cup wins in 1930 and 1950.
