Getafe CF 2007/08 Home (XL)

The 2007/08 season was Getafe’s first experience of European football and it nearly produced one of the competition’s biggest shocks.

They won their UEFA Cup group before eliminating AEK Athens and Benfica to reach the quarter-finals. Waiting there was Bayern Munich, a squad filled with established international players and expected to deal comfortably with the European newcomers. 

Getafe earned a 1–1 draw in Munich after Cosmin Contra scored a last-minute equaliser. In the return leg, they lost Rubén de la Red to a red card after only six minutes but still pushed Bayern into extra time. Goals from Casquero and Braulio put Getafe 3–1 ahead on the night before Luca Toni scored twice late on, including the decisive equaliser in the 120th minute. The tie finished 4–4, with Bayern advancing under the away-goals rule. 

This Joma model belongs to that exact breakthrough season. The first-team versions usually carried the Grupo Galcó sponsor, while this retail example has a clean sponsorless front.

Still, the connection is strong: this was the home design from the year Getafe entered Europe for the first time and came within one final whistle of knocking out Bayern. For a club shirt outside the usual giants, that is a genuinely ridiculous story to have behind it.
