At the end of the 1990s, Bordeaux were one of France’s most respected football clubs.

This purple Puma home shirt represents the transition between two eras: the end of the club’s 1990s generation and the beginning of a new chapter that would bring another league title.

Bordeaux had already produced legends such as Zinedine Zidane, who left the club in 1996, but by the turn of the millennium a new generation was emerging. Players like Sylvain Wiltord, Lilian Laslandes, Johan Micoud and Ulrich Ramé helped Bordeaux become one of the strongest sides in France.

The club’s biggest achievement during this period came in the 1998/99 season, when Bordeaux won Ligue 1 in dramatic fashion, finishing one point ahead of Marseille. Wiltord was the league’s top scorer that season, while the team became famous for its attacking style and talented French players.

This Puma shirt followed that success into the 1999/2000 and 2000/01 seasons, carrying the identity of a Bordeaux side that remained competitive domestically and in Europe.
