The Shirt Made by a Brand That Once Dressed More Than 800 Clubs

In 2017/18, CE L’Hospitalet were wearing Gedo, a Catalan sportswear company that had grown far beyond the profile its name suggests today. At its height, Gedo supplied more than 800 clubs around Spain, with L’Hospitalet, Terrassa, Reus and Llagostera among its Catalan clients.

The season itself arrived at a symbolic moment for L’Hospi: 60 years after the club’s foundation in July 1957. After relegation the previous year, they immediately challenged near the top of Tercera División, finishing third with 71 points and reaching the promotion play-offs.

The manufacturer gives the shirt an even stranger history. Gedo later became the subject of major financial disputes involving former employees, investors and footballers; by early 2018 the business was already in serious difficulty and the original company was eventually liquidated. It makes this a piece from the final years of a football brand that once looked capable of becoming a major force in Spanish teamwear.
