The mid-2000s were Birmingham City’s first sustained period as a Premier League club. After promotion in 2002, the Blues avoided an immediate return to the Championship and established themselves among England’s top flight.

The 2004/05 season was their third-ever Premier League campaign and their most successful at that point. Under Steve Bruce, Birmingham finished 12th, collecting 48 points and comfortably avoiding relegation. The team featured experienced Premier League players such as Emile Heskey, Robbie Savage and Mario Melchiot, alongside younger talents.

This Diadora shirt also represents the era when flybe.com became one of Birmingham City’s most recognisable sponsors. The airline’s branding appeared across several Blues kits during the 2000s and became closely associated with the club’s Premier League years.

A few years later Birmingham would experience both highs and lows: winning the League Cup in 2011 but suffering relegation that same season. This shirt belongs to the earlier Premier League era, when Birmingham were proving they could compete at the highest level.
