James Scored and Assisted in His First Bundesliga Start

James arrived at Bayern in summer 2017 with plenty of attention around the move, but his early weeks were interrupted by injury. His first Bundesliga start finally came away to Schalke on 19 September, with James wearing No. 11 in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI.

He made the most of it. In the 29th minute, Corentin Tolisso found him inside the area and James finished for his first goal in a Bayern shirt. Later, he supplied the pass for Arturo Vidal to score the third in a comfortable 3-0 win.

James went on to score seven Bundesliga goals that season as Bayern won another league title. That makes this No. 11 especially nice to have: it comes from his first Bayern season and from the year he went from new arrival to a player who was already scoring and creating on his first league start.
