Grealish Played 16 Premier League Games And Lost Every Single One

The number on the back makes this shirt tied to one of Jack Grealish’s weirdest seasons. In 2015/16, he made 16 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa and somehow lost every single one of them, setting a Premier League record for most appearances in a season with a 100% losing record.

Yet the campaign also gave Grealish his first senior goal for Villa. On 13 September 2015, wearing No. 40, he curled in from around 20 yards to put Villa 1-0 up away at Leicester City. Villa even went 2-0 ahead, then conceded three times in the final part of the match and lost 3-2.

That basically sums up the shirt’s season. Grealish was beginning to establish himself as a first-team player, but Villa finished bottom with just 17 points and were relegated from the top flight for the first time since 1987. A Grealish shirt from before the trophies and £100m transfer, from the season when virtually everything that could go wrong, did.
