The Shirt of Sweden’s Bronze Summer

This Sweden 1994 home shirt comes from one of the greatest summers in the country’s football history.

Sweden reached the World Cup semi-finals after a dramatic quarter-final against Romania. Wearing this exact yellow design, Tomas Brolin opened the scoring through a brilliantly worked free-kick routine. The match eventually finished 2–2 before goalkeeper Thomas Ravelli made two saves in the penalty shootout to send Sweden through.

Their run was ended by eventual champions Brazil, but Sweden responded emphatically in the third-place play-off. Brolin, Håkan Mild, Henrik Larsson and Kennet Andersson all scored during the first half of a 4–0 victory over Bulgaria, securing the country’s first World Cup medal since 1958.

Sweden finished the tournament as its highest-scoring team with 15 goals. Brolin and Andersson were both named in the World Cup All-Star Team, while Andersson’s five goals earned him the Bronze Boot.
