This is not a normal 2020/21 Sevilla home shirt. The Shirt With Sevilla’s Sixth Europa League Title on Both Sleeves

Look at the sleeves and this shirt basically tells you what Sevilla had just achieved.

Only weeks before the 2020/21 season began, Sevilla beat Inter 3–2 in Cologne to win their sixth UEFA Cup/Europa League, extending their own record in the competition.

UEFA then gave the reigning champions a very unusual Champions League detail. The normal starball badge was modified to include “Winners 2020 UEFA Europa League”, while Sevilla also wore a separate Badge of Honour celebrating all six of their Europa League victories.

So this European version carries two reminders of the same achievement.

Ocampos 5 makes the connection even better. Lucas Ocampos had been one of Sevilla’s key players in the trophy run. In the Europa League quarter-final against Wolves, the game was still 0–0 with two minutes left when Ocampos headed in Éver Banega’s cross to send Sevilla through. He then started the final against Inter as Sevilla lifted the trophy.

When the new Champions League campaign began, he kept number 5 and Sevilla reached the Round of 16 before narrowly losing 5–4 on aggregate to Borussia Dortmund.

The patches are what make this version special: Sevilla entered the Champions League literally wearing proof of what they had just won.
