On 20 August 2022, Real Madrid wore their new black third kit for the first time against Celta Vigo. With the score at 2-1, Luka Modrić played a pass through to Vinícius Júnior, who ran into the penalty area, went around goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín and scored. Madrid eventually won 4-1, with goals from Benzema, Modrić, Vinícius and Valverde. It was the perfect start for a shirt inspired by the renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu.

Vinícius Scored the First Goal in Real Madrid's New Black Third Kit

On 20 August 2022, Real Madrid travelled to Celta Vigo for their second La Liga match of the season. They were also wearing their new black third kit for the first time. Adidas had designed the shirt with lime-yellow details and a dark pattern inspired by the new Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

Madrid took an early lead through Karim Benzema's penalty, but Iago Aspas equalised for Celta. Just before half-time, Luka Modrić scored from outside the box to put Madrid back in front. In the 56th minute, Modrić played a long pass to Vinícius, who sprinted clear of the defence, went around the goalkeeper and finished into the empty net.

Federico Valverde added another goal to make it 4-1. Vinícius had scored the first goal in Madrid's new third kit, helping the team maintain its winning start to the season. The shirt went on sale to supporters in September, nearly a month after the team first wore it on the pitch.
