The season itself became a turning point. New owners took control, Kenny Dalglish returned to the manager’s seat and Liverpool broke their transfer record twice on the same day with Luis Suárez and Andy Carroll. The club’s own season review described it as a campaign that would go down in Anfield history, even without a trophy.
