Hajduk’s Last Championship Shirt

For Hajduk Split supporters, the 2004/05 season has become more important with every year that passes.

Hajduk entered the campaign as defending champions and finished first again, securing back-to-back Croatian league titles. Their official season archive records 16 victories, eight draws and first place after 32 matches. It remains the club’s most recent league championship.

The season became even more memorable in January 2005. Niko Kranjčar, one of Croatia’s biggest young talents and the captain of Dinamo Zagreb, made the almost unthinkable move directly to Hajduk. The transfer created enormous excitement in Split and immediately turned him into one of the most talked-about players in Croatian football.

Kranjčar then played his part in the title run and scored in the final-day 6–0 victory over Varteks, the result that confirmed Hajduk as champions.

This is therefore not simply another early-2000s Hajduk shirt. It belongs to the last team that brought the Croatian championship back to Split, during a season defined by a huge rivalry transfer and a title supporters are still waiting to see repeated.
