THE STORY BEHIND THE SHIRT

From Milan’s Academy to Viareggio Glory

This Adidas shirt was produced for AC Milan’s academy during the 2013–14 season, using a clean white design similar to the senior team’s away colours.

The academy details distinguish it from the standard shirt sold to first-team supporters.

That season was a memorable one for Milan’s Primavera team. Coached by former striker Filippo Inzaghi, the young Rossoneri won the Viareggio Cup in February 2014.

The tournament has long been an important stage for young players in Italian football and Milan’s victory gave the academy something to celebrate during a difficult period for the senior side.

For a Milan fan, this shirt offers something different from another famous first-team design. It represents the part of the club where players are still trying to earn the right to wear the red and black at San Siro and the season when Inzaghi’s young team returned home with a trophy.
