The club had first partnered with the AECC in 2012, becoming a pioneer in Spanish football and this was already the eighth consecutive season with a solidarity third kit. THE STORY BEHIND THE SHIRT

Tenerife Had Been Wearing Pink Against Cancer for Eight Straight Seasons

Tenerife began its partnership with the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer in the summer of 2012. The club describes itself as a pioneer in Spanish sport for making a charity initiative part of an official playing kit rather than simply producing a one-off awareness shirt.

By 2019/20, the idea had reached its eighth consecutive season. Hummel produced this pink third shirt, with part of the proceeds from every sale going towards cancer research and support for patients and their families.

And it genuinely was a playing kit. Tenerife debuted it in the first league match of the season away to Real Zaragoza, making the campaign visible from day one. What started as a charity initiative in 2012 had effectively become part of Tenerife’s kit identity.
