Ramos Played His 600th Real Madrid Game in This Shirt Then Got Himself Suspended

On 13 February 2019, Sergio Ramos walked out in Amsterdam wearing Real Madrid’s dark 2018/19 away kit for appearance number 600. The milestone made him only the seventh man to reach 600 games for Madrid, putting him alongside some absurd company in the club’s all-time appearance list.

Then the night got very Sergio Ramos. With Madrid leading Ajax 2-1, he was booked late on and automatically suspended for the second leg. Afterward he initially acknowledged that, considering the score, the booking had been intentional (essentially trying to clear the suspension before a potential quarter-final) before later rowing back on the admission.

There was another ridiculous stat hiding behind that milestone: Ramos had already scored 11 goals in all competitions that season, which WAS highest-scoring campaign of his career at that point. The Ajax match shirt added Champions League patches and the gold world-champions badge, unlike this cleaner example, but Ramos genuinely wore this same dark away design on the night he reached 600 appearances and somehow still managed to make the yellow card almost as memorable as the milestone.
