The Shirt From Mallorca’s First Copa Final in 21 Years

Mallorca waited 21 years to experience another Copa del Rey final.

Their previous appearance had ended with the club lifting the trophy in 2003. Two decades later, Javier Aguirre’s 2023/24 side made an unexpected run all the way back to the final, only the fourth Copa final in RCD Mallorca’s history.

The reaction from the island was huge. More than 20,000 Mallorca supporters travelled to Seville, which the club describes as the biggest travelling mobilisation in its history.

In the final at La Cartuja, Dani Rodríguez put Mallorca ahead after 20 minutes. Athletic Club equalised through Oihan Sancet early in the second half and after 120 minutes the score was still 1–1. Athletic eventually won the penalty shootout 4–2.

The shirt from that season kept Mallorca’s traditional red but added subtle horizontal hoops in a slightly lighter shade, with white Nike and αGEL by Taica branding.

So while 2023/24 did not end with another Copa trophy, this home shirt comes from the season Mallorca finally returned to a major final after more than two decades with an entire island seemingly following them to Seville.
