Ibrahimović Passed George Weah to Become PSG’s Record European Scorer

On 8 December 2015, PSG hosted Shakhtar Donetsk in their final Champions League group match with Ibrahimović wearing this black “Dark Light” design. He first created the breakthrough, finding Lucas on the edge of the box for the Brazilian to make it 1-0 in the 57th minute.

Then, with four minutes remaining, Lucas returned the favour. Ibrahimović was released through on goal and finished low to make it 2-0, his 17th European goal for PSG. That moved him past George Weah’s 16 and made Zlatan PSG’s outright record scorer in European competition at the time.

The timing was ridiculous because this was only the latest record he had destroyed. Two months earlier he had passed Pauleta as PSG’s all-time leading scorer and just days before the Shakhtar match he had become their record Ligue 1 scorer too. All of that happened during his final Paris season, when he finished with 38 league goals and 13 assists in 31 Ligue 1 matches.
