The Last Adidas Shirt Before Lillestrøm Changed Direction

Lillestrøm have worn yellow and black for generations, but this 2003 Adidas shirt stands out because almost nothing interrupts those colours.

Instead of placing a huge sponsor across the middle, Opel appears as a small oval on the chest. That leaves the shirt looking closer to a classic football jersey than a heavily branded early-2000s release, a detail that has aged much better than plenty of shirts from the same period.

It also came at the end of an era. Adidas supplied Lillestrøm in 2003 before the club moved on to different manufacturers, making this one of the final shirts from a partnership that had produced several memorable yellow-and-black designs since the 1990s.

The 2003 campaign itself was not a trophy season (Lillestrøm finished seventh in Norway’s top division). The real appeal is much simpler: a rare long-sleeve Adidas shirt, a tiny Opel sponsor and a design that lets Lillestrøm’s colours do almost all the work.
