THE STORY BEHIND THE SHIRT

Pedri Scored La Liga's Goal of the Month to Start Barça's Comeback

On 23 August 2025, Barcelona travelled to face Levante in their second La Liga match of the season. Things weren't going well for Hansi Flick's team. Levante had taken a 2-0 lead by half-time and Barcelona needed someone to get them back into the game. That someone was Pedri.

In the 49th minute, Pedri received the ball outside the penalty area following a corner and fired a powerful right-footed shot into the top corner. Just three minutes later, Ferran Torres equalised to make it 2-2. Barcelona kept pushing and a stoppage-time own goal from Unai Elgezabal gave them a 3-2 victory.

Pedri was named Man of the Match after completing 118 passes and winning the ball back ten times. His goal was later voted La Liga's best goal of August, the first time he'd received the award. It was a great start to the 2025/26 season for Barcelona's number 8, who was becoming just as important for his goals as he was for controlling the midfield.
