Lewandowski Equalled Gerd Müller’s Record in His Final Bayern Season

Adidas designed Bayern’s 2021/22 away shirt as a direct tribute to the city of Munich. The black-and-gold colour scheme was inspired by Munich’s civic identity, while the city’s coat of arms appears high on the back of the shirt, a detail easy to miss beneath the player name.

For Lewandowski, it became the shirt of his final season in Germany. He scored 35 Bundesliga goals in 34 appearances, finishing as the league’s top scorer for a fifth consecutive season and winning the Torjägerkanone for the seventh time.

That seventh award drew him level with Gerd Müller’s Bundesliga record. Lewandowski left Bayern that summer with 312 Bundesliga goals, second only to Müller at the time, ending his eight-year Bayern spell with another championship and one final piece of German scoring history.
