A Mountain Worn Across the Heart

This Slovenia 2016/17 home shirt was designed around Mount Triglav, the country’s highest mountain and one of its most recognisable national symbols.

Nike recreated the mountain’s three peaks across the chest, with the graphic fading into a pattern below. The bright blue colour also recalls the Slovenia shirts seen at the 2002 and 2010 World Cups.

The design belongs to the beginning of Slovenia’s qualification campaign for the 2018 World Cup. Featuring players such as Jan Oblak and Josip Iličić, the team defeated Slovakia 1–0 and held England to a goalless draw in Ljubljana.

Slovenia shirts are considerably less common than those of Europe’s biggest national teams. With its bold colour and unmistakable Mount Triglav graphic, this original Nike home shirt is a distinctive piece of Slovenian football identity.
