Real Madrid 2003/04 Home Player Spec 'Beckham 23' (XL)

In June 2003, David Beckham shocked the football world by leaving Manchester United after more than a decade at the club. Having won six Premier League titles and the Champions League under Sir Alex Ferguson, the England captain was ready for a new challenge.

Real Madrid signed him that summer, adding another huge name to a squad already featuring Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Luís Figo, Roberto Carlos and Raúl.

There was one problem: his famous #7 shirt was already taken by Raúl. Beckham instead chose #23, a number associated with basketball legend Michael Jordan, and it soon became one of the most recognisable shirts in football.

His start in Madrid couldn't have gone much better. On 27 August 2003, Beckham scored with a header against Mallorca in the Spanish Super Cup, helping Real Madrid win 3-0 and lift his first trophy with the club.

Three days later, he made his La Liga debut against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabéu. Just two minutes into the match, Ronaldo reached the byline and crossed for Beckham to score his first league goal. Madrid went on to win 2-1.

Despite that promising start, the season ended in disappointment. Real Madrid finished fourth in La Liga, lost the Copa del Rey final to Zaragoza and were eliminated from the Champions League by Monaco.

But Beckham had established himself as a regular in one of football's most famous teams, beginning a four-year spell at the Bernabéu.

This 2003/04 Beckham #23 shirt comes from the very beginning of his Real Madrid career, when the England captain became the latest member of the Galácticos and one of the biggest names ever to wear the famous white shirt.
