The Shirt from Janko’s 39-Goal Season

This Adidas shirt comes from the early years of Red Bull’s Salzburg project, before the club became the regular Champions League name fans recognise today.

Its biggest story arrived in 2008–09. Marc Janko scored 39 goals in only 33 league matches, setting a new club record and earning Austria’s Player of the Year award.

Those goals helped Salzburg win the Austrian championship with 23 victories. The team scored 86 league goals, with Janko responsible for almost half of them himself.

The shirt also captures a very early version of the club’s identity: Adidas stripes, a clean white base and the enormous Red Bull graphic dominating the front long before Salzburg became famous for developing stars such as Mané, Haaland and Szoboszlai.
