THE STORY BEHIND THE SHIRT

The Shirt of Rangers’ 1999 Treble

This Rangers 1997–99 home shirt is one of the club’s most recognisable Nike designs. Its royal blue colour, white collar and McEwan’s Lager sponsor give it a classic late-1990s look.

The design was used across two very different chapters at Ibrox. It first appeared during Walter Smith’s final season, when stars such as Brian Laudrup, Ally McCoist and Paul Gascoigne were reaching the end of their Rangers careers. It then remained for the start of Dick Advocaat’s new era.

In 1998/99, Rangers won the Scottish league title, Scottish Cup and League Cup. They secured the league with a famous 3–0 victory over Celtic at Celtic Park, before beating Celtic again in the Scottish Cup final to complete the domestic treble.

This original kids’ version offers the same famous design in a harder-to-find size. Connected to Rangers legends from two generations and one of the club’s greatest seasons, it is a strong piece of Ibrox history.
