The Return of QPR’s “Dennis the Menace” Shirt

This shirt revived one of QPR’s most recognisable away looks: broad red-and-black hoops, worn here with solid black long sleeves and small blue details.

Supporters call the design “Dennis the Menace” because its colours resemble the striped jumper worn by the famous comic character. QPR first used red-and-black hoops in the early 1980s, and the nickname eventually became part of the club’s own kit culture.

Nike brought the colours back for the 2015–16 away kit, replacing the usual blue-and-white identity with something darker and far louder. It was one of those designs that immediately looked like QPR without needing to copy the home shirt.

The long-sleeve version is less commonly seen than the standard short-sleeve release and this example still carries its original retail tags. It preserves the shirt exactly as it left the shop almost a decade ago.

That is the real reason this one works: it is not just a random black-and-red QPR shirt. It brings back a design supporters gave their own nickname, turned into a club tradition and still ask to see return today.
