Mané’s 50th Liverpool League Goal Came in His 100th Premier League Appearance

On 5 October 2019, Mané lined up in this home shirt against Leicester City for his 100th Premier League appearance as a Liverpool player. Before half-time, he ran onto James Milner’s pass and finished past Kasper Schmeichel, his 50th league goal for the club.

It became part of the relentless start that drove Liverpool towards the title. Mané ended the campaign with 18 goals and seven assists in 35 Premier League appearances, earning a place in the PFA Team of the Year and winning the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award.

There was also a perfect bit of history built into the shirt itself. New Balance based its pinstripes on Liverpool’s 1982/83 title-winning kit, Bob Paisley’s final season as manager and placed Paisley’s signature inside the neck for the centenary of his birth. Wearing that tribute, Liverpool went on to win their first league championship in 30 years.
