Tévez Scored on His Serie A Debut in This Yellow Away Design

When Tévez joined Juventus from Manchester City in June 2013, he was given one of the heaviest shirts in Italian football: number 10. Tévez himself acknowledged the responsibility, specifically mentioning Alessandro Del Piero and saying it was an honour to continue the tradition.

His Serie A story could hardly have started better. Juventus opened the season away to Sampdoria wearing their new yellow kit and in the 58th minute Tévez finished a move involving Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba to score the only goal of the match. It was his Serie A debut and his first league goal for Juventus.

The yellow shirt itself was a deliberate throwback. Juventus said the yellow-and-blue combination recalled the colours of Turin and the kit worn by Gaetano Scirea when he lifted the 1984 European Cup Winners’ Cup. So Tévez’s first season in Turin began in a design already carrying a piece of Juventus history.
