Barthez and the Last Trophy of a Golden Generation

This France 2002–04 goalkeeper shirt belongs to the era of Fabien Barthez, one of the country’s most famous and successful goalkeepers.

The design was introduced for the 2002 World Cup and remained in use as France rebuilt after the tournament. In 2003, Les Bleus won the Confederations Cup on home soil, beating Cameroon in the final through Thierry Henry’s golden goal. It was the last international trophy won by the generation that had already conquered the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.

Its black colour, gold Adidas details and padded sleeves give it the unmistakable look of an early-2000s goalkeeper shirt. France goalkeeper kits from this period are also much harder to find than the famous blue outfield shirts.

Connected to Barthez, Zidane, Henry and the final trophy of France’s golden generation, this original Adidas goalkeeper shirt is a rare piece of Les Bleus history.
