On 26 May 2013, Barcelona travelled to face Espanyol having already won La Liga. Before kick-off, Espanyol's players formed a guard of honour to congratulate their rivals. But some home supporters weren't happy. They turned their backs on the pitch, while others booed as Barcelona walked out.

Alexis Sánchez made things worse for the home fans just 14 minutes into the game. The Chilean scored to give Barcelona a 1-0 lead, wearing the club's orange-and-yellow away shirt. Espanyol tried to respond, but Barcelona stayed in control. Pedro added a second goal late in the match to complete a 2-0 victory.

The win kept Barcelona on course to finish with 100 points, matching Real Madrid's record from the previous season. They achieved it with a 4-1 win against Málaga on the final day. For Alexis, the goal against Espanyol was part of a strong finish to a difficult season, while Barcelona's bright orange Nike away shirt became part of their title-winning campaign under Tito Vilanova.
