FC Barcelona 1981/85 Away (XS)

This yellow Meyba away shirt belongs to a Barcelona period that changed fast.

The design was used during Diego Maradona’s time at the club, after he arrived in 1982 as one of the biggest stars in world football. His Barça spell only lasted two seasons and was full of drama: illness, a serious ankle injury, big performances and trophies, before he left for Napoli in 1984.

The shirt design stayed after Maradona left. By 1984/85, Barcelona were under Terry Venables and chasing a league title they had not won since 1973/74. The team finally ended that 11-year wait, securing La Liga with several games still remaining. One of the defining moments came away to Valladolid, when goalkeeper Urruti saved a late penalty and preserved the result that confirmed Barça as champions.

That is what makes this away shirt interesting: the same yellow Meyba look stretches across two very different Barça chapters.

First, the short and chaotic Maradona era. Then, almost immediately after, the team that finally brought the league title back to Camp Nou.

The design itself is pure early-80s Barça: yellow base, central blaugrana stripe and Meyba shoulder tape, but the real appeal is how much changed around it while the shirt stayed almost the same.
