Everton wore this shirt when they beat Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield in September 1999, with Kevin Campbell scoring after just four minutes. The derby became chaotic, with three red cards and Liverpool defender Steve Staunton eventually forced to play in goal. Everton would not win at Anfield again for another 21 years.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SHIRT

The Everton Win at Anfield That Stood for 21 Years

One of the biggest moments connected to this shirt came at Anfield in September 1999. Kevin Campbell scored after only four minutes to give Everton a 1-0 victory over Liverpool

The match then turned into pure derby chaos. Francis Jeffers and Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld were both sent off after clashing, before Steven Gerrard also received a red card late on. Liverpool had already used all their substitutes, so defender Steve Staunton had to finish the game in goal

That single Campbell goal became even more famous with time. Everton did not win another match at Anfield until February 2021, meaning this shirt is tied to an away derby victory that remained unmatched for more than two decades
