Crystal Palace wore this away shirt for a brutal 9-0 defeat at Anfield, Liverpool’s joint-biggest top-flight win. After that night, the sash gained an unlucky reputation and was used far less. When Palace later needed an alternative kit for the 1990 FA Cup Final replay, the players reportedly refused to wear it, leading Bukta to create a completely new yellow-and-black strip instead.
