THE STORY BEHIND THE SHIRT

Chile’s traditional red base

This Chile home shirt was released in July 2022 and remained in use across the 2022–24 period. It was part of Adidas’ return as the national team’s supplier after nearly three decades away.

The design keeps La Roja’s traditional red base, with white Adidas stripes, a blue collar and blue-and-white sleeve trim. Patterned side and lower-back panels add a subtle reference to Chile’s national colours.

The shirt arrived after Chile failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. Rather than being worn in Qatar, it became associated with the beginning of a new international cycle and the gradual transition away from the generation that won the Copa América in 2015 and 2016.
