Godwin Scored in Casa Pia’s First Top-Flight Win in 83 Years

Casa Pia’s 2022/23 season was historic before a ball was even kicked. The Lisbon club were back in Portugal’s top flight for the first time since 1938/39, ending an 83-year absence. 

Their first victory came in the third league match against Boavista. Rafael Martins opened the scoring before Saviour Godwin made it 2-0, racing forward on the counter and finishing across goal. 

It was Casa Pia’s first win in the Portuguese top division since March 1939. Godwin went on to make 30 league appearances and score four goals as the newly promoted side finished a comfortable 10th.
