In 2002/03, Cádiz created a shirt that made their supporters part of the design. Instead of a normal sponsor, it featured the famous chant “¡Ese Cai Oé!”, with season-ticket holders' names printed throughout the fabric. That same season, Cádiz finally returned to Spain's second division after nine years in Segunda B. Their promotion came on 29 June 2003, thanks to a penalty from Abraham Paz against Universidad de Las Palmas.

Cádiz Put Their Own Fans' Names on a Shirt During Their Promotion Season

By 2002, Cádiz had spent eight consecutive seasons in Spain's third division. The club had faced serious financial problems, missed several promotion opportunities and watched its crowds drop. But its supporters continued backing the team. During the 2002/03 period, Kelme produced a special shirt featuring the chant “¡Ese Cai Oé!” and the names of loyal season-ticket holders.

On the pitch, Cádiz were trying to escape Segunda B. They finished fourth in their group, qualifying for the promotion play-offs against Barcelona B, Logroñés and Universidad de Las Palmas. After five play-off matches, everything came down to their final game away to Universidad on 29 June 2003. Cádiz needed a draw to secure promotion.

Universidad scored first through Jonathan Sesma, putting Cádiz's promotion in danger. But Abraham Paz equalised from the penalty spot and the match finished 1-1. Cádiz were finally back in the second division after nine years away. For a club whose supporters had stayed through years of disappointment, it was a huge moment and the shirt featuring their names is a reminder of that difficult period.
