This shirt comes from Uwe Rösler’s first season as Brentford manager, when the club began rebuilding the team and football structure that would eventually take them up the divisions. Brentford finished ninth, just outside the League One play-offs, with future promotion hero Clayton Donaldson arriving that summer. It was also the final season Hertings appeared as Brentford’s main home-shirt sponsor, ending a four-season run from 2008 to 2012.

The Shirt From the Start of Brentford’s Rise

The 2011/12 season marked the beginning of a new era at Griffin Park. Uwe Rösler arrived as manager, while Mark Warburton became Brentford’s first Sporting Director as the club began completely restructuring its football operation.

Brentford finished ninth in League One, only a few points away from the play-offs. New signing Clayton Donaldson contributed 11 goals and 15 assists in his first season before becoming one of the key players in the club’s eventual promotion push.

The shirt also closed another chapter. Hertings had sponsored Brentford’s home shirts since 2008 and 2011/12 was their final season on the front. Remarkably, the local Southall company never disappeared from the club completely: Hertings remains a Brentford partner today, with the relationship extended until 2028.
