AC Milan Scored After 25 Seconds and Equalised in the 92nd Minute Against Barcelona

On 13 September 2011, AC Milan travelled to Camp Nou to face Barcelona in their opening Champions League group match. Barcelona were the defending champions, with Messi, Xavi and Iniesta in the starting lineup. But Milan surprised everyone. After only 25 seconds, Alexandre Pato ran straight through the defence and scored past Víctor Valdés. It was the fastest goal ever scored on the opening matchday of the Champions League at the time.

Barcelona slowly took control. Pedro equalised in the first half and David Villa scored a free-kick early in the second to put Barça ahead. Milan struggled to create chances, and with the match entering stoppage time, Barcelona looked certain to take all three points. Then Clarence Seedorf delivered a corner and Thiago Silva headed it into the net in the 92nd minute.

The game finished 2-2, with Milan scoring almost immediately after kick-off and again just before the final whistle. It was a great result against the team that had won the Champions League only a few months earlier. Milan eventually reached the quarter-finals that season, where Barcelona knocked them out. But the 2-2 draw at Camp Nou remains one of the most memorable matches of Milan's 2011/12 campaign.
